Kaitlin Masopust, LMHC-D
I’m so glad you’re here.
My path to becoming a therapist has not been linear, though it has always been grounded in a deep commitment to helping people navigate life’s inevitable challenges with greater clarity, resilience, and self-understanding. I began my career as a school psychologist in therapeutic school settings in New York City, supporting students and families with complex emotional, behavioral, and learning needs. While this work was deeply meaningful, I found myself wanting to support individuals beyond the school environment and across different stages of life.
That desire led me to return to graduate school and pursue additional clinical training in private practice, and later work in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, where I supported individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. These experiences gave me a broad understanding of how stress, anxiety, relationships, identity, achievement, and life transitions can impact emotional well-being—often in ways that are not immediately visible to others. It also deepened my understanding of the resilience people carry, even in times of profound struggle, and strengthened my belief in the importance of compassionate, collaborative care.
Today, I work primarily with adults who may appear to “have it together” on the outside while internally feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, burnt out, or uncertain about what they truly want from life. Many clients are navigating questions around relationships, career pressure, perfectionism, self-worth, identity, or major life transitions. They are thoughtful, insightful people who are ready to better understand themselves and create more fulfilling, sustainable lives.
I view therapy as a collaborative process rooted in curiosity, authenticity, and compassion. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and able to show up fully as yourself—without judgment or pressure. Together, we can work to identify patterns that may no longer be serving you, build practical tools for coping and emotional regulation, and help you move toward a life that feels more aligned with your values and goals.
My approach is integrative and evidence-based, drawing from CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based therapies. I value ongoing learning and remain committed to staying current with the latest research and therapeutic approaches in order to provide thoughtful, effective care tailored to each individual.
Outside of therapy, you can find me traveling, reading, hiking in the Hudson Valley, long-distance running with a good playlist, and spending quality time with my family, friends, and dog.
